Consciousness: Quantum and Jainism

چکیده
Dr.Narayan Lal Kachhara Summary Development of Quantum Mechanics in Physics introduced an interesting phase in scientific history as it made some scientists to invoke application of consciousness to explain certain phenomena at micro level. Since the inception of this idea in 1950s many studies have been made to support or oppose the proposal. Part I of this paper reviews the quantum theories of consciousness, which essentially mean that consciousness is a material phenomenon, and presents arguments forwarded for and against this proposition. The Part II of the paper first presents the concept of soul and consciousness in Jainism and then briefly reviews the views of different religions and philosophies on this subject. Next the relation between soul and mind is discussed. Lastly the cognition phenomena are studied in the light of Jaina principles and the role of brain in this process is discussed.

Quantum, consciousness and panpsychism: a solution to the hard problem
We analyze the results and implications of the combination of quantum and consciousness in terms of the recent QSC analysis. The quantum effect of consciousness is first explored. We show that the consciousness of the observer can help to distinguish the nonorthogonal states under some condition, while the usual physical measuring device without consciousness can’t. The result indicates that th...
متن کاملQuantum and Classical Hopfield-like Neural Networks: Two Modes of Consciousness and Psycholinguistic and Psychotherapeutic Implications
Quantum bases of consciousness and free will are considered with implications of two cognitive modes of consciousness (direct religious/creative, characteristic of quantum-coherent transitional and altered states of consciousness, and indirect perceptually/rationally mediated, characteristic of classically-reduced normal states of consciousness), as well as conditions of transformations of one ...
متن کاملA quantum physical argument for panpsychism
It has been widely thought that consciousness has no causal efficacy in the physical world. However, this may be not the case. In this paper, we show that a conscious being can distinguish definite perceptions and their quantum superpositions, while a physical measuring system without consciousness cannot distinguish such nonorthogonal quantum states. The possible existence of this distinct qua...
متن کاملArguments and Model for Quantum Consciousness, Modification of Quantum Collapse, and Panpsychism
As first, a mechanism how quantum coherence in the brain can last long enough is shown. This mechanism is based on very light elementary particles. Then the arguments follow as why consciousness should be a quantum phenomenon and how such an introduction of quantum consciousness modifies the formalism of quantum mechanics. This can also be tested by an experiment. Without use of quantum mechani...
متن کاملQuantum World as Consciousness
By examining the consciousness in terms of reference frames in quantum dynamics, it will be shown that the unitary evolution of an arbitrary wavefunction, including that of the Universe, which one experiences, is the evolution within the observer’s consciousness.
